Experts from Africa, the United States and Europe will converge in Abuja From March 6-11, to discuss energy resources and security on the continent, including how insecurity and mismanagement of these resources could prove devastating to Africa's energy producing countries and neigbouring states.

The international seminar organised by the US Department of Defense's Africa Center for Strategic Studies in collaboration with the Nigerian Ministry of Defense will examine the enormous potentials of energy resources on the continent, according to a release from the Public Affairs Section of the US Embassy.

"As we have seen in the past with diamonds and other discoveries, Africa is blessed with abundant natural resources, but too often these resources have been used to support tyranny and tear nations apart, rather than build economically strong and secure states. Leaders worldwide need to ensure this is not the case with Africa's energy reserves" said Director of the Africa Center, General Carlton Fulford.
