The U.S. Capitol was briefly evacuated late Wednesday afternoon when a plane ventured into restricted airspace.

The evacuation last only minutes before the Secret Service issued an all-clear.

The plane was detected 33 miles northeast of Reagan National Airport.

NBC's Chip Reid reported that the evacuation began in an “extremely orderly” fashion, and ended uneventfully.
