Do You Know What The Downing Street Memo Is?

I saw qoutes in Al Franken's latest book from Bush from before 9/11 that said he's looking at Iraq and wanting to start something. Why do you need some fancy memo, and whats the hearing for?

The memo isn't "fancy". It simply stated that the Bush Administration was fixing the facts around the policy. Meaning they deliberately manipulated the intelligence to suit their needs. Meaning they lied to the American people in order to justify a war that has killed 1000's American soldiers, and Iraqi people.

The hearing was to have experts, and people affected to testify publicly, and on the record.

and don't forget the other quote...that they were going to "stick to the script".

It's funny, because they did that well too...if you read the two speeches from bush in 1999 one at the citadel(wich are posted here), he places emphasis on stopping terrorists from using "planes as wmd", furthermore he goes on and on(1999) that Iraq and Iran are "dangerously close to developing WMD"...

Basically, it's proof that the Bush Administration planned for the Iraq war long before they presented the idea to Congress... and that they manipulated the intelligence to suit the policy.
