The White House refused for months to allow National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice to testify before the 9/11 Commission, citing "Executive Privilege". Instead, they sent Richard Armitage (A known drug smuggler from Iran/Contra) in her place.
After public outcry, she finally faced the panel's questions on the condition that the Commission would not request additional public testimony from any White House official, including Dr. Rice.
Commissioner Richard Ben-Veniste asked her about the terrorism briefing provided to George W. Bush during his August 2001 vacation at his Texas ranch.
