Think about it, he will escape or be liberated by the insurgents, and regain control. The U.S. will have to retreat. Unbeknownst to anyone, it was all a deal between the U.S. and Saddam.

The problem with your theory is that the only way Saddam could regain control of Iraq is to #1, be rescued from wherever he's incarcirated, and #2, have the United States withdraw from Iraq, abandoning those they leave behind, etc...

Well... it couldn't be done. The Iraqis hated us for abandoning them after the first Gulf War... imagine if we did it again.
