A Pakistani man suspected of involvement in the beheading of U.S. journalist Daniel Pearl has died just weeks after he resurfaced from a four-year disappearance.

Saud Memon, who owned the property in Karachi where Pearl was murdered, disappeared four years ago only to reappear in April when he was dropped off at his home by unidentified men.

It is unclear if Pakistan's intelligence agency or the United States was holding Memon. He had been wanted for questioning in connection with Pearl's murder but he was never formally charged. His family says he disappeared in 2003.

Memon's brother confirmed his death Friday, adding that he was in extremely poor health when he was freed last month.

Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl was abducted and beheaded by Al-Qaida terrorists in Karachi in 2002.

British-born militant Omar Sheikh and three other men have been convicted of murdering Pearl.
