This is an awesome piece of writing. Does anybody remember this really weird movie, maybe late 80s, called "The Cook, the Thief, His Wife, and Her Lover"? There was a godawful scene in which someone was killed by having the pages of a book stuffed down his throat. (It was a very artsy movie, so this act was full of meaning, doncha know.) Anyway. That's what it made me think of.

That's a Peter Greenaway movie, its awesome. Music by Michael Nyman,-great composer. Another movie by Greenaway is drowning by numbers, a much better film I thought.

I'll check it out. I still remember "Cook" vividly -- it was almost hallucinatory in its visual intensity. I also remember a steady stream of freaked out people getting up and leaving the theater.
