PEORIA - As the anniversary of 9-11 approaches, the Peoria Public Library will offer people a chance to learn more about the tragedy that changed our country nearly five years ago.

Author Paul Thompson, world-renowned expert on the events of 9-11, will be debuting the film "9-11: Press for Truth" at 3:50 p.m. on Sept. 9 in the basement auditorium at the Main Downtown Branch of the public library, 107 NE Monroe St.

The film chronicles the lobbying efforts of five members of the 9-11 Family Steering Committee, to establish an independent commission to investigate the attacks. It also stitches together rare, overlooked news clips, buried stories, and government press conferences, revealing a pattern of official lies, deception and spin. Thompson will be discussing the film and his book, "The Terror Timeline," as well as answering questions after the showing.

The film's debut is part of an all day 9-11 video screening marathon which starts at 10 a.m. The marathon will include the films' "In Plane Site" by Dave Von Kleist, "9-11 Revisited" by Dustin Mugford, "Loose Change 2" by Jason Bermas, Dylan Avery, and Korey Rowe and "Everybody's Gotta Learn Sometime" by John J. Albanese.

The marathon will continue at 4 p.m. on Sept. 11 with three more films and discussion.

The program is free and open to the public.

Movies about 9-11 are also offered at 8 p.m. every Monday night on the public access channel. There will be a two-hour special starting at 8 p.m. on Sept. 11.
