    YBBS Hacked?

I apologize for any "inconvenience" the problems to the site have caused. It seems like they figured out what the problem was.

From the support guy at my hosting service...

"Someone was actively poisoning the server. I've got them locked out via our firewall. They would start HTTPD connections, then not complete anything. Denial of service attack.

They had 30 Apache processes tied up before I put a stop to it."

Who knows if it was my site they were after. I always wanted one of these threads...

I asked them if we were being hacked, and their response:

"Not "hacked" in a sense. A denial of service attack is set up so that one person (or organization) steals all the available resources from the server, so that no legitimate traffic can be passed."

given the content of your site, though I do not know what else they are hosting, I would imagine the DOS attack was targeting ybbs. DOS is the same thing that brought down the microsoft site a couple years ago
