I ma fully aware of that, and that may have been a better deal. The 9/11 Commission ended up being a sham, in my opinion. Yet a lot of people, including me, waited for it and went slow in their own investigation.

Had we not had it, the government's utterunwillingness to investigate would have been even clearer for all to see. Which could have been better, in the final run.

You said, "Which could have been better, in the final run."

I'm saying it was impossible for them to avoid not having one, no matter how hard they tried. If they did, then it would have been as you said, and maybe it would have been better if they ultimately refused.

Whether it was possible for Bush & Co to avoid the necessity to create a commission to investigate 9/11, or not, is debatable but otherwise it sounds like we in agreement. The Jersey Girls did a remarkable things nonetheless - they forced the creation of the Commission, and they then pronounced its work a failure. They did more than their share - and now it is out turn. Though clearly it would help if they didn't retreat into obscurity - but they have their own lives, and this is their right.
