I don't think they are really that christian. According to a british documentary (Why politicians can't tell the truth) GOP made a study on what the rightwingers have in common and they found two things:
Religion and gun ownership. So they have effectively used this to fish votes. Also, since many of the neocon are fans of Leo Strauss and his philosophy of deception;

And according to some (Alex Jones), these secret societies are devil worshipers or something along those lines. At least that's the impression I think he was trying to make. I'm not sure I believe that but a lot of these guys in the republican party sure aint religious.
