Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) has read the text of the U.S. constitution to the U.S. Senate after the body voted 95-4 to renew some controversial provisions of the USA PATRIOT Act.

Feingold spent 34 minutes sharing the document with his fellow Senators, stopping to repeat the Fourth Amendment, which he feels the law violates.

The Fourth Amendment reads:

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Senator Jim Talent (R-MO) followed Feingold's reading by heralding the recent Hall of Fame election of Negro National League baseball players, attributing the faster pace of modern ball playing to professional sports integration.

Sen. Byrd is one that I know of... as far as I'm concerned... those 95 should be tarred and feathered, and sent packing.

What is it with Vermont? They have an indy senator and an indy-socialist congressman (the only one AFAIK in the whole of the US, despite what Republicans say), and there is/was a movement to seceede from the Union.

Why is Vermont like this? Is there some mad left-populist history to this place?

MAYBE Vermont remembers WHY the 'united states' rebelled against the yoke of England's imperialistic tyranny...History 101???
