WASHINGTON, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, the indicted former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney, has joined a Washington think-tank as a senior advisor.

The Hudson Institute announced Friday that Libby, who also served as assistant to Cheney for National Security Affairs, will focus on "issues relating to the War on Terror and the future of Asia," and will offer research guidance and advice on strategic planning.

"Scooter Libby brings decades of experience to Hudson Institute that will strengthen our robust research efforts," said Hudson Institute Chairman Walter P. Stern in a news release.

The statement listed Libby's career highlights, but did not mention his October 2005 indictment on charges of obstruction of justice, perjury and lying in the investigation of the leak of a CIA operative's identity. Libby -- who resigned his White House job following the indictment -- pleaded not guilty on Nov. 3.
