GAZA, Palestine, January 2, 2006 (IPC + Agencies) - - President Mahmoud Abbas stated upon his arrival to Abu Dabi, in a trip to Arab United Emirate, that those who talk about doing away with the truce are grossly mistaken.

He added also that the truce was not tied to a particular timetable when it was agreed in Cairo late March.

"I do not know what the justifications for the truce to be ended are, despite the colossal Israeli violations. I think it is our interest that the truce continues, in order to have the opportunity to reconstruct our country and to make things take their ordinary course," he said.

Four key Palestinian factions declared stopping the truce which all the Palestinian factions were committed to in March, and avowed to make Israel pay dearly for its crimes against the Palestinians.

The four factions are Al-Aqsa Martyr Brigades, the military wing of Fatah movement; Al-Qussam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas; Saladin Brigades, the military wing of the Popular Resistance Committees; and Jerusalem Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad.

On the other hand, Mahmoud Abbas stressed that the parliamentary elections would take place within the slated timetable on 25 January, but on only one condition that Jerusalem is not excluded of the these elections.

He also said that "Israel did not give a clear response in this regard", and that "no Palestinian accept to hold the elections with Jerusalem excluded, for Jerusalem is considered with a holy and a national views"

Abbas's Visit to Emirates came within the Palestinian Authority's efforts for obtaining funds for the reconstruction process.

Furthermore, he put the crown princes of Abu Dabi in the picture of the latest development in the Palestinian territories, especially the Israeli attempts to impose a buffer zone northern Gaza City.
