STOP WATCHING THE TELEVISION!!!

People NEED to understand that the TV is NOT your friend. The TV DOES NOT tell you the truth. The TV makes you complacent about understanding or caring about what's going on in this country.

There are things taking place behind the scenes that your TV doesn't tell you about. Things that affect you as a person. Things that if you were aware of, you would get OFF your ass, and do something about it.

That, in itself, is WHY the TV doesn't tell you. The PTB (Powers That Be) DON'T want you to get off your ass.

Well guess what...

I DO!!!

And of course, not only does TV not mention most everything that's important to us as individuals, they fill our ears with babble, most of which is not even true. And I firmly believe that there's a LOT of subliminal programming going on in what we're watching--I think that explains why we become immobile blobs while watching, and surely why we don't RAGE against the liars when we see them lying over and over and over... It's a well understood fact that subliminal messages are rampant in advertising--why would we not believe that "news" stations do the same thing, given the CIA has control over what they put out on the airwaves anyway. I mean, does anyone really believe the CIA doesn't use the "non-lethal" technology available to them?

I agree thoroughly--turn OFF the TV. Get in the streets. Talk to people. Watch ANY of the decent truth that's available on the Internet and that you'll find when you start getting together with people. There's a wealth of information out there--we just have to understand that what the foreign press routinely reports on is NOT on American TV. Why is that...?

Think about things you thought were newsworthy, and weren't mentioned on the news. Think about how sometimes you find yourself repeating what you've heard on the news, only to be rebuffed by someone who doesn't watch it...

For instance...

"You couldn't have removed Saddam Hussein, without having a war."

That is not true. Saddam accepted an 11th hour exile before we invaded, and it was ignored.

That's just one of MANY examples of how the TV teaches you to believe things that aren't true.

Well I wouldn't advocate never watching TV. Take all news programs with a fuck-off sized bag of salt, yes. But give up watching, hell no. Know your enemy baby.

And every so often, some genuinely good docos get on the TV (maybe not in the US, I don't know). But History and Discovery have had some pretty good films CIA & the Nazis, In the Name of the State [Contra war], Promises and Betrayals (The Brits & Palestine), Spy Secrets (MI6).

As do the BBC from time to time, The Power of Nightmares, The Mayfair Set, Why We Fight, Iraq, Tony & the Truth to name a few. And Channel 4 (UK) recently did a whole series on the US/UK's use of torture. And ITV (UK) shows John Pilger's always fascinating documentaries - which to be fair is about the only thing ITV has going for it.

Incidentally, you can watch many of those docos in the YBBS Video section (http://www.yourbbsucks.com/forum/videos1.htm)!

I'm not saying we shouldn't monitor the television... I'm saying you should stop RELYING on it.

Oh yeah! Turn it off! My avatar is what a TV looks like when it’s fixed!

I think the biggest thing wrong with American TV is the way they dumb the audience down. I think they lost the smart audiance a long time ago and are now only catering to morons.

I stopped watching TV with the advent of “REALITY” programming. Where all theses “Real” more attractive than normal, “adults” go on and squabble and back stab like little kids. And all the us vs. them debate shows that degenerate into loudest voice competitions as well as dramas being little more than soft core porn (desperate housewives) I would rather watch actual porn than see a bunch of Frankenstein plastic faced women treating the men in their lives like garbage. Speaking of plastic surgery what about that fucking nightmare the swan? That’s right little girls its not about who you are or what you do it’s about looking like a plastic blow up doll. Or average Joe that’s right little boys if you’re ugly and less than an Adonis you better have lots of money or girls wont fuck you. Not to mention the sensational infotainment that American news has become. “Ministry of truth”

There are so very little good shows that I cancelled my cable years ago and just buy DVD’s of shows I like.

The only TV I watch anymore is from 11:00-12:00pm Cartoon Network, and some of the History Channel. Other than that, I have a massive DVD collection...

So then... what shows are full of brainwashing propaganda, Gold? Anything not on Fox?

News supplied by MSNBC, CNN, FOX, ABCNews, CBSNews, CNBC, CNN Headline News, etc... is not the news. It's opinionated, and censored bunk.

Everything is opinionated. Even your stuff. Blame the fcc for censorship (I hate 'em, too). I want to kick Dobson in the balls for Focus on the Family. They've been attacking good tv for too long!

Honestly, I can't watch US news. On the BBC, everynight we get an hourlong broadcast of ABC main news show (whatever its called). I was watching it last night, they were talking about the Saddam trial - aside from the fact that they were treating it like... I dunno, a gameshow or something (maybe its just the 'action packed voiceovers' so common in US news). They then showed a six second clip of Ramsey Clarke (one Hussien's defence lawyers). Cut back to the news anchor, and they have a 2 minute, totally uncritical interview with the lead prosecution lawayer. I mean, you'd expect that from FOX, but I thought ABC was (ahahaha) impartial! That news show, whatever its called (ABC Tonight maybe?) is just so much fluff.

And also, we get Letterman (I'm not a fan), and last night he had Al Franken on. Christ almighty, but that dude just ain't funny! I'd read his book Lying Liars a couple of years ago (I didn't know who he was until I read that) - and it had some interesting parts, some major apologetics for Clinton too, but I didn't find it funny. I though maybe he was just one of those guys you have to see in action for his jokes to work. Last night was teh first time I ever seen him - and it seems that I was right first time - he just isn't funny (and liberals have a crap sense of humour!).
