THE INTERNATIONAL FORECASTER editor Bob Chapman writes: France and Venezuela affirmed their strong ties and said they wanted deeper cooperation on all levels in a Paris meeting between PM Dominique de Villepin and President Hugo Chavez Frias.

Mr. Villepin said there was a common vision between the two countries on relationships between the north and south hemispheres and on the need to change things, to have new ideas. He said relations between France and Venezuela are very good and we are looking to develop our cooperation on all levels, citing the sectors of education, energy and defense specifically.

After that meeting, Mr. Chavez meet with President Jacques Chirac, this was the third meeting between the two leaders this year.

The two countries’ respective foreign ministers, Ali Rodriquez and Philippe Douste-Blazy, held a meeting to discuss bilateral economic, political and cultural ties, and Chavez and a group of 40 Venezuelan business leaders met with French counterparts.

France was preceded by Italy where conversations stressed a strategic alliance with PM Silvio Berlusconi in the oil sector. Venezuela wants to become the principal oil provider for Europe and Italy.

Meanwhile, Israel has cancelled a deal with Venezuela worth $1 million to upgrade 22 F-16 fighter jets under orders from George and the neocons.

The US is hoping that Venezuela won’t be able to defend itself when they invade ... we are sure Russia will assist them or perhaps even China.
