And why would the New York Police Department, one of the two organizations who lost the most people that day, endorse a photograph that is fake?

And if you zoom in on ANY image, you're going to see pixelation. GOD they are so stupid over there.

It doesn't matter, here is what happens to buildings that suffer a structural damage of some sort:

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/IMAGES/buildfall6.jpg

http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/IMAGES/buildfall7.jpg

So if some uneducated boobs are claiming this little bit of damage is responsible for the collapse, they are once again sadly misinformed.

The top photo is actually the east corner. Not sure on the other one.

I know... I showed it to my friend who is also a graphic designer (as myself), and he knows what to look for... certain blurring, etc... and there is one piece that looks like an uncommon blur, but there is also smoke so it's hard to tell.

wow, great pictures! i wish we had video of this.. i hate how so many ppl think that if a building starts falling the entire structure disentegrates.. a video of this would show pretty well how a building can maintain structural soundness even when falling.. good pics, thanks!

i will say this though, in general modifying an image, or modifying photographic/video evidence is something most would avoid.. the main reason being that if it comes out the video/image was edited, then it would provide concrete proof of a lie..

i dont see how modifying this image solves anything, or would justifying modifying this image.. they would be taking a large risk in doing such as well..

again, sorry for my rude coments the first time.. part of it comes from the ppl i work with who swear every image that makes bush look like a moron is photoshopped..

id say it is real, unless concrete evidence could prove otherwise.. otherwise it is just a waste of time to argue over when we could be being active in getting the word out.

I think the video you have linked up with a prison demolition, the infamous carandiru in Brazil, is very eye opening.

In any case, Is this the sw corner?

Bullshit, history is a great teacher, and history tells us that buildings don't disintegrate from structural damage or fire.

I think gold is talking about the *quick get the magnifying glass* pixel pushers, not structural damage.

How did the construction crew know, "keep your eye on that building, it'll be coming down soon". lucky guess?

They tell us these are three buildings that "collapsed" from structural damage.

Notice in the pictures above of the demolitions, the tremendous amount of dust. One of the controlled demolition websites actually had the statement on their website that a surefire way of telling a controlled demolition had taken place is by the amount of dust.

I have since tried to find that statement on the web, but haven't been able to, I assume its been removed.

Demolition project will create noise, dust and diesel exhaust conditions at TA-3

The demolition of the Scyllac and the former Public Affairs Office buildings west of the Administration Building at Technical Area 43 will cause some short-term undesirable conditions, including loud engine and demolition noise, vibration, dust and exhaust fumes, according to project managers.

Controlling dust from construction and demolition activity

Nuisance dust emissions from construction, demolition and other civil engineering activities are a common problem.

Demolition dust settles as ground is broken for new hospital addition

http://www.redlandshospital.com/rch-news11.htm

UNEXPECTED HAZARDS IN DEMOLITION WORK

Lead dust is caused by removing, grinding, or cutting materials covered with lead based paint, or from handling metallic lead. Lead fumes can also be created when a torch is used to cut tanks that have contained leaded gasoline or other lead containing products. Since lead is a toxic material that can cause serious illness, respirators should be worn if lead dust or fumes are present.

Silica is found in many building materials such as natural stone, brick and concrete. Breaking, cutting, crushing or grinding this material will generate dust containing crystalline silica. Exposure to excessive dust can cause silicosis, a disease resulting in lung problems. If it is not possible to control dust to an acceptable level by keeping materials wet or damp, respirators should be used.

Asbestos dust can be generated whenever materials containing asbestos are handled or removed. Typical asbestos containing materials include sprayed asbestos coatings on steel columns, insulation materials, fire resistant walls, asbestos cement sheets, and flooring materials. Breathing this dust can cause asbestosis and lung cancer. Asbestos coating or insulation should be removed by a certified asbestos removal worker before any demolition is started.

Dust Up

Dirty Work: The 800 block of Rutland Avenue is now the center of a controversy over lead-paint dust that could be released into the air by demolition for the East Baltimore biotech park.

The letter, signed by Raymond Winbush, director of Morgan State's Institute for Urban Research, and Richard Scott, lecturer in the university's Public Health Program, noted that, according to the July 2003 Environmental Health Perspective journal, housing demolition in East Baltimore is a major source of harmful "lead in ambient dust." The professors urged "cessation of the current demolition and a meeting involving [East Baltimore Development Inc., the project's developer], the residents, members of the Johns Hopkins University, the demolition workers, and scientists from Morgan State University." If demolition continued as planned, the letter warned, Winbush and Scott would sue for a court injunction against the project.

Winbush and Scott intervened in the demolition on behalf of the Save Middle East Action Committee, a neighborhood organization formed to negotiate with East Baltimore Development on behalf of residents threatened by the biotech development. They note that the 2003 report on lead dust, put together by researchers at the Hopkins-affiliated Kennedy Krieger Institute, shows that the lead-dust levels hovering in the air when buildings are demolished in East Baltimore violate federal guidelines.

"Daily lead dust fall during demolition exceeded the U.S. [Environmental Protection Agency] floor standard by six fold and as much as 81-fold on an individual sample basis," according to the report. (The floor standard is a measurement of the amount of lead dust that settles on an interior floor.)

"It is clear that if you soak a building as you begin demolition, and continue to soak as you do demolition in a very strategic and deliberate manner . . . you will dramatically reduce dust levels to below acceptable levels," Shannon says, though he could not produce any hard data to back up this assertion.

http://media.portland.indymedia.org/images/2005/05/317058.jpg

The environment and air quality around Johns Hopkins Medical have long been an issue for those who have lived around the ever-expanding campus. Even Hopkins employees acknowledge that they often have to dodge plumes of dust rising from the numerous construction and demolition sites.

Advocates for the biotech park say that block organizers will be going door-to-door to tell neighbors about pending demolition, and residents will receive handouts warning them to take certain precautions, like closing windows and bringing pets and children indoors, to avoid dust and other hazards

Pollution in the Demolition Industry

6.3 Dust

During demolition work, especially interior demolition work and concrete demolition, high concentrations of dust are expected. Unless special precautions are taken dust can harm the respiratory tract and lead to chronic diseases, e.g. silicosis, which is caused by dust with a high content of quartz. According to the DK threshold values for substances and materials the following threshold values are given:

Mineral inert dust (total): 10 mg/m3
Mineral inert dust (respirable dust): 5 mg/m3
Quartz dust: 0.1 mg/m3

Considering dust emissions inconvenient to neighbours, no specific threshold values are given. Normally, we say that visible dust is not acceptable as a practical limit. It is necessary that the demolition contractor ensures that the dust emission is controlled and reduced as much as possible, for instance by the use of water sprinkling and performing the dusty operations when the wind direction is appropriate.
