At the Crossroads: Facing the Reality of 9/11
By Les Jamieson
Revised February 2, 2005

The struggle for justice, civil rights, economic opportunity, and human dignity is an epic story spanning hundreds of years. In the U.S. the history of populist movements is filled with stories of common people driven by necessity and vision who were forced to expend extraordinary effort and risk everything in order to break through the chains of political and corporate tyranny. All our gains in economic well-being, civil rights and individual freedoms have only been achieved by battling the system. We face equally daunting challenges today as our government, which was designed to protect us from an unjust and burdensome state apparatus, has morphed into a system that protects corporate juggernauts and the secret military state, all at our expense and without our consent. The people of the U.S. and the world as a whole have been caught in the throes of a covert, hostile corporate takeover that has been inching forward for generations but now is ominously nearing completion. The overall objective is total empire – full spectrum dominance of earth and space. Luckily, with the medium of the internet, many books filled with breakthrough research, and independently produced documentaries, we have new avenues of education for the many among us who recognize there is an alarming pattern of developments. As we work through to greater levels of understanding the world situation, those willing to follow the pursuit of truth will find a pathway to what could be a quantum leap in human progress. We’ll examine the process available to us. But first, let’s fully assess where we are.

Looking at recent history from the end of the cold war to the present, we have seen a turbulent time marked by severe economic swings that have further consolidated wealth and power for a few while undermining security and financial stability and creating a bleak future outlook for the masses. Economic terrorism is in full force, which is described in detail in the recently released “Confessions of an Economic Hit Man” by John Perkins. Combined with an insatiable military budget draining our Treasury and forcing cutbacks in domestic spending, our culture of war is devastating our society and having the impact described by President Dwight Eisenhower when he movingly said on April 16th, 1953:

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children . . .Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."

The political reality is that almost every element of fascism is in place. The most recent characteristic to emerge is the corrupting of the electoral process casting further doubt on the legitimacy of our republic. The only fascist trait missing is full blown martial law. We should be aware that all it would take is another terrorist attack and an Executive Order to complete the process. Shouldn’t these conditions and parallels to pre-war Germany be acknowledged? Can anyone be certain it can't happen here?

Yet the populist forces continue to attempt to mount opposition to the imperial agenda with the same methods used for decades. The war in Iraq has been the galvanizing focus which has spawned a modern day anti-war movement built on a Viet Nam War era model. Recently a Million Worker March representing unions and the working class futilely called for money to be diverted to job creation, education and health care, not war. Protest marches are filled with signs relating to a broad spectrum of issues of the plight of Palestine to Haiti. Nevertheless, the Iraq war rages on, U.S. foreign policy is aggressive as ever, the military budget continues to grow, and trillions of dollars are still "missing" from an unaccountable Pentagon. Moreover, we’re still addicted to fossil fuels and have an administration filled with oil executives occupying the White House for a second term despite overwhelming evidence of election fraud.

At this time the progressive movement which encompasses a broad range of social struggles must ask itself the following questions. What is it going to take to achieve serious progress, stop the military agenda, stop the poisoning of our planet, stop the looting of our treasury for death and destruction, and gain control of our future? What unifying foundation can we agree upon that addresses the root cause of the destructive events and forces shaping our reality today? Are we ready to recognize the critical juncture we’re at with choices that will determine whether we have a future of hope or hardship?

It is time that the entire progressive movement come to the most sobering, horrific, yet vital realization we can imagine. It starts with the realization that the truth of the 9/11 attacks still remains untold and unreported in any coherent fashion. We must come to terms with the obvious fact that the official story simply defies logic and common sense. For example, is it really plausible that nineteen rogue Arabs, led by amateur pilots, with boxcutters could have simultaneously hijacked four jumbo jets on their own, outwitted our multi-trillion dollar military/intelligence apparatus and then penetrated the most restricted airspace on the planet an hour after we knew they were in our skies? Is this an even faintly credible story? There is obviously much more explaining required to justify why in the prior year NORAD fighter jets had successfully intercepted off-course airliners at least 67 times, but suddenly on 9/11/01 the whole system failed and NORAD inexplicably botched four out of four. This is just one of many, many examples of why the official story is literally unbelievable.

Here’s another way to put it. There are many categories of analysis of 9/11. For example, one can study the years of warnings, the failure of government response to the many warnings in the months before, the quashed FBI investigations, the hijackers activities, the plot that unfolded that day, the collapse of the buildings, the Pentagon attack, etc. Each of these offers researchable modules of information that can be used to check the veracity of the "official story". If any one of these categories is shown to have flaws, it destroys the credibility of the explanations we have been given and the whole official narrative unravels and falls apart.

Let's finally accept the obvious. It’s time to fully recognize that due to the failure to recognize the official deception of 9/11, the progressive movement’s fragmented struggles have been addressing many ancillary symptoms of globalization while missing the underlying source. It’s time for all of us to understand the historical precedents, the factor played by economic conditions prior to 9/11, the role of oil, and the imperial quest for empire outlined in the manifesto of the Project For A New American Century. This neocon think tank has many members now occupying the highest offices in our government and has formulated the military policy which they’ve justified by exploiting the “opportunities” presented by the 9/11 attacks.

Now we have three options. We can continue to labor in our separate circles while fearing and avoiding the larger implications inherent in the recognition that 9/11 was a long-foreseen and facilitated self-inflicted terrorist attack. We can avoid considering that the military machine appears to have manufactured an enemy to create public support for its agenda through fear tactics and this government has mercilessly exploited 9/11 to push its agenda and undermine our civil liberties.

Next option, we can succumb to resignation and shrink into the illusion of powerlessness, as many already have. Or we can choose to embrace the most profound opportunity for progress we have ever been offered by focusing on the actual and deliberate crimes of 9/11, exposing the fraud and understanding the machinations of the military/industrial/ banking/congressional complex. We can finally demand the complete truth and full prosecution of all those actually responsible, fully aware that this will not happen as a result of Congress or media inquiry, but only from a mass movement.

With the radical right juggernaut holding majority control of government and poised to advance its agenda at warp speed, the progressive movement must recognize the necessity for clarity and unity of purpose. With past scandals, such as the JFK assassination, the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution, and Martin Luther King's murder, the real facts did not emerge until decades later. It is urgent that we recognize the common activist approach used for so long will never accomplish the desired task and new, effective methods must be embraced. If we fail, just think what more of the same will look like just a few years from now.

At this point, we can't wait decades for the truth. The glaring discrepancies in the official explanation of the 9/11 attacks demand full scrutiny. We must mobilize and make full use of this opportunity now.

Then we can take a quantum leap by truly recreating reality. This can be accomplished by promoting the positive use of existing technologies for human benefit, restoring the sovereignty of the individual, creating a government that functions with integrity, and establishing a new paradigm of consciousness that values harmony and well-being for all.

Is the progressive movement merely addicted to struggle or seriously seeking a solution? The degree to which we’re willing to expose the proverbial elephant in the room is the degree to which we will restore our constitutional freedoms, resolve every issue of war and injustice, and advance to a just, benevolent and sustainable world. We must expose the neocon agenda as the primary obstacle to political and social progress by revealing the truth of 9/11, the mega-scandal of all time. This may be our last, best chance to reclaim and restore the promise of America. But first we have to rise above our single issue concerns, learn to collaborate strategically, and we must never relent until we’re on course for a positive future.

Les Jamieson has done the best writing yet in terms of summarizing all of the discontentments of citizens that have their heads out of the sand. We can't sit around and accept apologies for glaring mistruths and greed-driven actions 30 years from now.

amen, lets get organized....what can i do to help?

Start telling people about this place... People first have to become aware of what's going on... the media won't do it... they have proven that.

Obviously the officials in D.C. aren't going to do anything... Before we can organize as a people, we must become united as a people. The only way that can happen is if everyone of us share a common goal.

To me, that goal is absolute truth, and absolute accountability. I hope that goal is the same throughout the 9/11 Truth Movement. People who join the "movement", do so because they saw something that wasn't right. They caught a glimpse of truth from something they saw on the web... That is what this place is... at least to me. It is an outlet for people to educate, and in doing so, develop relationships with other people who share the same goals. Thereby becoming a stronger, more unified "movement"...

I have met some of the most amazing individuals on these Bulletin Boards. Some of the most brilliant minds of our time. I have had amazing conversations with people. People who agree with me, disagree with me, or people that don't even like me. People who love some of the things I do, and people who have shared their likes with me. All of them amazing.

Amazing people can accomplish amazing things. Imagine what amazing people can accomplish together...

Oliver Stone must not be allowed to make "9/11"...

I'm in total agreement. No Ollie Stone. Don't get me wrong; I like his films (except that piece of shit "Any Given Sunday"), but something like 9/11 doesn't need trivialized.

15 minutes till His Majesty speaks to His union.....
