Four Years After 9/11, FDNY Will Release Remaining EMS Recordings

Nearly four years after the 9/11 terror attacks on the World Trade Center, the New York City Fire Department will release its remaining audio recordings made by emergency dispatchers on the day of the attacks.

The FDNY is releasing the recordings on the order of the New York State Court of Appeals, after the New York Times and several 9/11 families brought suit to gain access to the materials under the state's Freedom of Information Law.

The release of the material will take place on August 12.

Other materials scheduled to be released include printed logs of EMS calls made during the attacks, and oral histories of firefighters describing their experiences in the months following 9/11.

Government agencies have already released other audio recordings related to the 9/11 attacks, including recordings of FDNY personnel. Audio of FDNY radio transmissions released on November 16, 2002, can be heard be accessing the link below.
