The Owl Tree
Cozy downtown roost pays tribute to its namesake and flies by the competition.

(Gold9472: There is a reason I posted this story... ask me what it is)

The Scene
Amid today's sleek SF scene, the Owl Tree sits as a proud non-conformist. The bar has been situated on the cusp of the Theatre District for more than 20 years, and its clientele is deliciously void of new-technologists. Instead, the somewhat persnickety proprietor Bobby C. caters to neighborhood regulars, tourists and locals dropping by on their way home from work.

The Draw
Every inch of the joint is covered in owls: owl mirrors, owl clocks, owl menus, stained-glass owls, ceramic owls. The den-like space is welcoming and unpretentious. Wood paneling covers the walls, Greg Brady beads hang in the windows and orange hurricane lights and red pleather seats create a warm, nostalgic glow. A basket of free niblets often accompanies a beer, as does a Handi-wipe and a "cheers."

The "Owl Tree" is adjacent to the Bohemian Grove's headquarters in San Francisco...
