Crime on the rise in Gujrat

LALAMUSA: The social, religious, business and political circles have expressed grave concern over the growing dacoity, robbery and theft incidents in all the congested residential commercial and industrial areas of the district.

The district was in grip of heinous crimes. The people alleged that the police had failed to apprehend the accused involved in the crimes.

The people have demanded Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif, IG police Shaukat Javed, RPO Gujranawala region Zulfiqar Ahmed Cheema and DPO Gujrat Tahir Alam look into the matter so that the Gujrat could be purged from crimes.

Reportedly, two armed men in police uniform entered the house of Khan Jabar the other day and looted 16 tola gold, mobiles, valuables and cash worth Rs 6 lakh.

A few days ago, more than two dozen armed dacoits forced their entry into the Daira of a Headmaster Sardar Ali son of Karim Din and Daira of Haji Sadiq in village Baghanawala in the area of Gulain police station. They mixed some poison in meat and gave it two dogs. As a result, one dog became unconscious. The dacoits beat Sardar Ali to death with repeated blows of guns butts and wooden rods on putting up resistance. After his murder, they broke the wall of the daira and entered the daira of Haji Sadiq. They beat their relatives -- Imran son of Liaquat Ali and his nephew Muzamal Hussain, son of Muhammad Deen -- seriously with wooden rods and butts of guns and took eight buffaloes with them.

Four armed men kidnapped Raja Iftikhar, general secretary of Shabab Milli, from his home in the jurisdiction of Sadar police Gujrat the other day. The kidnapers tortured him and released after three hours. In another incident, four armed men with the help of Shahida Bibi kidnapped Rakhshanda Bibi from Gujrat in the area of Lari Adda police station, Gujrat.

On the night of Tuesday, 10 armed men entered the house Ch Abdul Kareem of Dulla village in the area of Sadar police station and looted gold ornaments. The dacoits also injured a woman on offering resistance. The same day a thief stole a car of Muhammad Zafar of Traranawali in the area of Police Lines station Gujrat. In another incident, the same night some men looted Rs 30,000 and valuables from the General Store of Haji Iqbal in the area of city police Lalamusa.

Some armed men snatched Rs 14,000, valuables and a motorbike from People's Youth Wing General Secretary Ch Rafique of Tanda in the area of Gujrat police.Five armed men shot dead Muhammad Muneer son of Sardar Khan of Dulla village in the area of Sadar police station two days ago. A pickpocket deprived Mahmood Ahmed of Rs 25,000 and prize bonds worth Rs 240,000 in the area of Kharian police station.
