French firefighter may confirm conspiracy theory in Di's death

London, Aug. 1: A French firefighter claiming that a photographer who followed late Princess Diana's every move before her tragic demise on August 31, 1997 was shot in the head, will give evidence at her inquest.

Christophe Pelat, who claims he saw a bullet hole in James Andanson's skull when his charred body was discovered, may be one of the most important persons to give their account when the hearing begins in the autumn.

Andanson was an MI6 informer who followed Diana's every move in the weeks before she died alongside Dodi Al Fayed and their chauffeur, Henri Paul, in 1997. He is also believed to be the driver of a mystery Fiat Uno that collided with Diana's Mercedes moments before it crashed.

Three years after the fatal accident, Andanson's badly charred body was discovered in a burnt-out BMW in the French countryside. He had a hole in his skull, as if he had been shot with a gun.

Although authorities have claimed that the damage caused to Pelat's skull was a result of the intense heat of the fire, Pelat insists the photographer was shot in the head.

Pelat has now expressed his willingness to testify at the inquest, and revealed that his account may be officially recorded in the coming weeks.

"Of course I will contribute to any inquiry of this nature. It is my job," the Daily Express quoted him as saying.

A former Operation Paget detective, who has now been tasked with collating evidence and witness statements for the inquest, has also hinted that Pelat is among the people whose evidence may be recorded.

"Anyone with this kind of information is high on the list of those who will give evidence," he said

If proved true, Pelat's evidence might lend weight to conspiracy theories that Di was murdered to prevent her from marrying Dodi.
