HBO a tribut to 9-11

I was at my girlfriends house and was flipping through the channels when I came upon HBO. They were playing a film entitled something like "a tribute to 9-11" or something like that. I had no intention of watching it but at the time I happened to flip to that channel it was showing the towers coming down and said "at the time the towers fell the fires inside were burning at 2,000 degrees".

Where the hell did they get their information? I guess it doesn't matter because nobody will question it. I know of no official report that claims those fires were that hot, certainly not at the time the buildings collapsed.
