I found the Healing Field to be a very powerful and proper memorial to a very tragic event that killed 2,976 innocent people, as far as it went.

What I can't reconcile is the morality of Americans' response to 9/11 five years later. After 9/11 our government misled us and used 9/11 to build support to attack Iraq.

Despite our government's inability to convince most of the rest of the world of the validity of our reasons to attack Iraq, 9/11 paralyzed the Congress and the American people and prevented us from questioning our government.

For this folly, somewhere between 60,000 and 150,000 people have died and the world is much more at risk of ongoing terrorist attacks today than five years ago.

Where is the acknowledgement of our responsibility for the deaths that have occurred since 9/11? For each civilian killed by "terrorists" on and since 9/11, the U.S.A. and its allies have brought on almost four noncombatant, civilian deaths in return.

There were not near enough flags in that field to count the deaths that "we the people" are directly responsible for. Our myopic view of the world is disgraceful.
