Alright, so Oliver Stone's World Trade Center came and went without offending anyone or pissing on the victims of 9/11. We dodged a bullet there folks. Care to try it again?

Get ready, we might have to. Our friends over at Filmstalker have dug up a story from the NY Post which says yet another World Trade Center movie may be on the way.

This movie is about another last men out of the WTC, William Rodriguez. Rodriguez's story starts out heroically. A janitor at the Trade Center, on the day of the attack he was the only man with a master key to all the doors in the building. So, in a bit of bravery he led Firefighters up the stairs of the North Tower unlocking doors for them as he went. He made it to floor 39 before he evacuated, and in the process saved hundreds of lives. He made it out of the buildling just before it collapsed, but was buried under rubble for an hour before being rescued.

That's the good part. The bad part is that after it was all over he launched a lawsuit against the government accusing President Bush of planning the attacks himself.

So, who do you go to when you're a 9/11 hero full of conspiracy theories against the government? Charlie Sheen of course. Rodriguez is reportedly talking to Sheen and Esai Morales about funding a project to bring his story to theaters. He says that Charlie's on board, and told him he'd "be honored" to turn his story into a movie. Writer David Marconi is reportedly already part of the project.

Marconi insists that the movie will focus on Rodirguez's 9/11 heroism, but I find that a little hard to believe. Sheen has gained some notoriety as a 9/11 conspiracy theorist in the past, and if you're not going to explore his story from that angle, then why bother to go to him over some other Hollywood actor?

If you thought audiences weren't ready to see faithful re-enactments of the events of the day, just wait until they have to react to a 9/11 film filled with accusatory conspiracy theories. Wait, we already had that didn't we? It was called Fahrenheit 9/11 and it outgrossed United 93 and World Trade Center combined. If he does it, Charlie Sheen just might end up getting very very rich.

Cool. He's gonna have a hard time finding a distributor though, since Farenheight 9/11 had some trouble as well, you know this is gonna be a lot tougher.

Yeah, but were not talking about someone of michael moore's fame, were talking about someone as famous as "charlie sheen".

Im sure between His dad and himself, he could probably find a studio to distribute the picture. Im sure he would be willing to call in some favors.

Group to buy Loews cineplex

(Beltman713: The Carlyle Group bought a bunch of theaters, after Farenheit 911 came out, to prevent another such movie from ever being released in this country again. So they may not be able to get this film released even if they make it.)

From Los Angeles Times, June 22, 2004

A group of private equity investors has agreed to buy theater chain Loews Cineplex Entertainment for $1.46 billion, it was announced Monday.

Buying the chain is a corporation formed by Bain Capital, Carlyle Group and Spectrum Equity Investors. Loews Cineplex is owned by Toronto-based Onex Corp. and Los Angeles equity firm Oaktree Capital Management.

The sale includes more than 200 theaters and 2,200 screens worldwide. Also included is Loews Cineplex’s 50% stake in Magic Johnson Theatres owned with the former basketball star.

Loews Cineplex was put on the block earlier this year after merger talks with AMC Entertainment Inc. unraveled.

Other assets being acquired include Loews’ operations in the U.S., Grupo Cinemex in Mexico and its 50% interests in Megabox Cineplex of South Korea and Yelmo Cineplex of Spain.

“Thanks in part to an existing theater portfolio that has been recently upgraded, Loews is well positioned to capitalize on the industry’s steady growth prospects. The investor group will work closely with the talented management team to grow the business,” John Connaughton, a managing director at Bain Capital, said in a news release.

Onex said its share of the cash proceeds was expected to be about $566 million. Onex will continue to own units of Cineplex Galaxy, valued at about $77 million, which operates Loews’ theater business in Canada and Galaxy Entertainment.

Onex is a conglomerate with annual revenue of about $12 billion and assets of $10 billion. Oaktree Capital Management is a private investment management firm with about $29 billion in assets.

Bain Capital, based in Boston, is a private investment firm with more than $20 billion in assets under management.

Carlyle Group, based in Washington, also is a private equity firm with more than $18 billion under management.

Spectrum Equity Investors has more than $3 billion in capital under management.

It's about time that someone in the entertainment field starts to air their beliefs regarding the "fishy" story we're being fed regarding 9/11. But if a movie is made, that would have to make our government very nervous and undoubtedly how they will handle it (as usual) is that they will suddenly be presented with another major media story that just happens to break around the time of the opening of the 9/11 movie.
